Ralph Scott is Head of Citizenship at Demos, with research interests in populism, character, social integration, political representation, and education policy. He is currently co-leading a cross-disciplinary study exploring the rise of the politics and culture of fear across Europe. He also leads Demos’ work on young people’s character and capabilities, including projects supported by the Department for Education and the Home Office. His research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and the BBC, the Sunday Times, TES, the Telegraph, the Guardian, the LA Times and the Economist. He is Editor of the Demos Quarterly, Demos’ magazine of political ideas, and previously oversaw external communications at Demos.
