Ms Nina Gregori is working at the Ministry of the Interior of Republic of Slovenia since 1996 and she is Director-General (or Deputy Director-General) responsible for the area of asylum, migration, integration, internal administrative affairs and naturalization since 2008.
She has been actively involved in the preparation of Slovenian positions for the dossiers in the area of migration, asylum, Schengen and visas for the relevant working bodies of the European Union since 1999. During the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of EU in 2008 she has chaired SCIFA (Strategic Committee on Immigration, Frontiers and Asylum) in which she is still Slovenian national delegate. She has participated more than 40 JHA Ministerial meetings as a member of Slovenian delegation. She is also a member of Management Board of EASO (European Asylum Support Office) and a national delegate in the Expert Working Group Migration at OECD.
She has participated in over 30 Inter-ministerial working groups for the preparation of the legislation in the field of migration, asylum, naturalization and registration of population, ID documents, weapons, political parties and data protection and in 2009 took over the chairing of the Inter-ministerial Working Group for the preparation of measures for the implementation of the migration policy. She also led the Inter-ministerial Working Group to address the issue of so called erased people in the ECHR pilot judgement procedure. As a member of the Interdepartmental Commission on Human Rights Ms Gregori is a permanent member of various delegations of the Republic of Slovenia in procedures and instruments of the United Nations and the Council of Europe.
