Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European Affairs of the Republic of Malta
Louis Grech studied Economics at the University of Malta and in 1970 he was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Balliol College, Oxford. In 1973 Louis Grech was one of the pioneers in the setting up of Air Malta, where he worked as General Manager, CEO and Chairman. Louis Grech also served as director on the boards of several banks and companies including the Central Bank of Malta, Bank of Valletta and The Malta International Airport. In the European Parliament elections of 2004 and 2009, Louis Grech was elected as Member of Parliament. His positive showing led to his nomination as his party’s Head of Delegation to the European Parliament. Mr Grech held this seat until his election to the Maltese House of Representatives in 2013. Deputy Prime Minister Louis Grech is also Minister for EU Affairs and is responsible for the implementation of the Government Programme.
